Your challenges are met where you stand.

This office specializes in trauma-trained expertise for individuals reaching a turning point in their emotional well-being.

Your process is your own.

Your history, current life and views are respected.

Gentle TraumaWork founder and sole counselor, Nanci Rose-Ritter, received her grief and trauma-focused training at the University of Buffalo Graduate School of Social Work. She is a former addictions counselor for local treatment centers, and prevention educator at Cornell University Health Services, and for regional colleges.

Nanci was a serious classical dancer, professor and teacher of dance history, ballet and varied cross-cultural forms. She began her counseling career after completing undergrad studies in therapeutic movement, later selected to present her original research paper, on monastic Tibetan dance, at the 1990 international dance history conference in Hong Kong, while living and writing in Dharamsala, India. She's been in private practice as a trauma-informed counselor since 2011. Somatic work for trauma transformation is a key component of her methodology.

For her own continued self-expression, Nanci Rose is a nature photographer, poet and painter. She lives quietly, with husband Robert and their scruffy little terrier, along the northeastern shore of Seneca Lake, across from a cornfield beneath vast skies.

Every person's process is unique. We provide a calm, grounded environment where you can safely explore obstacles to emotional well-being at your own pace.
